Personal Finance Society

We have been closely monitoring the Covid-19 situation and evolving government advice, but after much consideration we have decided that we will be unable to deliver the Personal Finance Society’s normal programme of regional CPD in quarter four in the face of the ongoing global pandemic. Our priority must remain the wellbeing of our staff, members and the clients they serve.

  • Digital CPD Live events
  • Specialist Investments
  • Paraplanning
  • MDRT
  • Specialist Retirement & Later Life
  • Mortgage & Protection
  • Investment Roadshows (face to face)

In November we are also planning a limited series of face to face Investment Roadshows to give members the opportunity to better understand the emerging global economic impact of Covid-19 and understand how this may influence investment decisions. Venues will be carefully selected to minimise any health risks and accommodate prevailing government advice.

Members will also get access to our ongoing programme of POWER content, which includes articles, webinars and video content dedicated to financial planning skills and techniques (www.pfspower.org).

This blended programme of mainly digital but interactive content, together with a limited return to physical events will help to ensure that members can stay safe, informed and remain connected to the wider profession during these challenging times.

We will provide full details to members and open registration for these events later this month.

November Showcase For Personal Finance Awards Winners

Entries closed last week for the 2020/2021 Personal Finance Awards and we have been once again heartened by the quantity and quality of entries across categories. For entrants the rigorous judging process, in some cases involving holistic case studies and panel interviews, now begins.

As many members will be aware, the deserving finalists are usually announced as part of a 500+ seat glitzy gala Awards dinner in November, where winners received their trophy from a celebrity host. Whilst the ongoing pandemic means that the gala dinner will not be possible this year, we felt that the hard work of entrants demanded an alternative style event; not least to showcase the cream of our profession and celebrate their success with the wider profession.

We are therefore excited to be inviting a special celebrity host to announce the finalists and winners as part of a special virtual event that will take place on 3rd November.

Festival of Financial Planning To Return to Reunite The Profession in 2021

We had hoped that 2020 would herald the return of the much-lauded Festival of Financial Planning, that we first staged in 2017. But again, the sheer scale of the event has meant that it is just not practical during a global pandemic.

But we are still excited to announce that the Festival of Financial Planning will be back at the Birmingham NEC in November 2021. What’s more it will have a brand new carnival vibe that will take the experience to a whole new level for members.

Graduation Ceremony 2021

The Personal Finance Society has also now postponed its Graduation ceremony until 2021. Whilst members will be naturally disappointed, we are hoping that the prevailing situation will allow members and their families to celebrate their achievements in more convivial circumstances.
