4 things you should read

Our inaugural 2021 Protection Guru Awards took place on Friday October. These awards were all about recognising the hard work and dedication of the protection industry, both advisers and insurers, over the last 18 months. We had some fantastic entries, both from established advisers and firms and new entrants to the market who have been making a big splash. For our insurer awards we deferred to the expertise and opinion of advisers, and the winners in this category have all been decided by adviser vote. Here we bring you a roundup of all of our shortlists.

Individual Adviser Awards Shortlists

With awards for best claims communication/case study, best use of social media, outstanding new protection adviser and best protection administrator/support staff, creating the shortlists for our individual adviser awards was not easy. We had some amazing entries from a wide range of both well-known and those that will no doubt go on to make a big splash in the industry. Read more.

Adviser Firm Awards Shortlists

Our adviser firm awards gave recognition for newly formed advice firms, mortgage and wealth firms that are doing a great job of protecting their clients, best network, best support group and of course advice firm of the year. The competition in this category was hot! Read more.

Insurer Awards Shortlists

When creating our insurer awards we attempted to be slightly different by rewarding insurers that excel at insuring different demographics of clients, regardless of the benefit type. As such there are no “Best critical illness” or “Best income protection” winners, but instead “Best insurer for protecting families” and “Best insurer for protecting self-employed customers”. Uniquely, the winners were also exclusively voted for by advisers. Read more.

Prestige Awards Shortlists

Protection Guru’s prestige awards were designed to recognise those that are going far beyond the call of duty in order to ensure that clients receive the best possible outcome. The awards were “The above and beyond award”, “Outstanding performance in claims handling”, “Protection Guru Doctors’ award”, “Outstanding protection adviser of the year” and “Dedication to protection”. These were our headline awards where the focus (as all things should be) is on consumer outcomes and doing the right thing. Read more.
