Financial advice programme – new partnership with ITN

Raising the profile of engaging in financial planning at all stages in life has never been more important given the unforeseen impact of COVID on our economy and people’s lives. Therefore I’m really pleased with the new partnership we are forging with ITN Productions to produce an educational and informative programme about the value of consumers engaging in financial planning and their financial wellbeing which can make a real difference to people’s lives.

ITN news presenter Natasha Kaplinsky will present the online news-style programme Financial Wellbeing, which aims to engender public confidence and trust in the personal finance profession, to explore the key challenges and opportunities consumers face today and showcase how the profession has developed to meet the increasingly complex needs of the modern consumers.

The programme invites experts in the field of financial planning from around the UK to share examples of advice, best practice and initiatives that equip consumers with the knowledge they need to improve their financial future.

The programme will launch in November at our specialist Investment Events taking place at seven locations across the UK; look out for further details in due course!

PFS goes back to school

As the nation’s children and teenagers return to school full-time this month, we are getting ready to resume our My Personal Finance Skills workshops in schools once the government and schools deem it is safe to do so.

My Personal Finance Skills is a pro-bono programme allowing members to help educate the nation’s teenagers about money matters and I am absolutely delighted by the feedback from schools and the growing demand. Our 800 education champions are committed to resuming school workshops as soon as possible but also with assisting schools and colleges by providing financial education sessions virtually while bubbles must remain in place to slow the spread of coronavirus.

PFS Awards 2020/21

Our events team has working hard behind the scenes to deliver a fun and engaging PFS Awards ceremony on Tuesday 3 November – virtually! We’ve seen some great examples elsewhere in recent months and we’re determined to take the best bits and give everyone shortlisted for an award – along with everyone else in the profession – an event to remember. Keep an eye on the awards website and look out for an email with full registration details next week.

Best Wishes,

Keith
