Anthony who is on the PFS board and is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, shares his thoughts and experiences on becoming Chartered.
.
How long have you been Chartered?
14 Years.
What motivated you to pursue Chartered Status?
I wanted to be the best adviser I could be to give the best advice I could give and in turn make the biggest impact I could to my client’s lives.
What challenges (if any) did you face attaining Chartered Status, and how did you overcome them?
Finding time to study was always the hard part. In some roles I used my annual leave and in other firms I got some study leave however I used lots of personal time and made many sacrifices whilst my friends and family were doing fun activities. Upon reflection the sacrifice was worth it, many times over.
How do you think Chartered strengthens your relationships with clients, peers and/or employers?
Achieving Chartered Status says a lot about a person, as they have taken the time to be disciplined with their personal and professional development. It shows that you are capable of achieving your goals and in turn it helps build credibility and respect from others.
What advice would you give someone considering Chartered Status?
Focus on one step at a time and enjoy the journey, you will be glad you went on it.
