Over the past quarter, the CII has been working with regulators, firms and industry partners to tackle some of the most important issues facing the insurance and personal finance professions.

From vulnerability and responsible AI to non-financial misconduct and fraud prevention, this work is helping to shape practical solutions that support better outcomes for members and consumers.

Policy outcomes

Vulnerability: The CII published new guidance to help firms process vulnerability data lawfully and confidently, while supporting industry efforts to develop shared taxonomies, common data standards and better information sharing. Research involving people with lived experience of vulnerability is also helping firms to improve products, services and communications.

Non-financial misconduct: The CII worked in partnership with PIMFA to publish a guide on handling and preventing misconduct such as bullying and harassment within firms ahead of new FCA rules from September. Following publication of research into the drivers of misconduct, the CII is developing practical interventions to support culture change and improve reporting ahead of the rules coming into force.

Responsible AI: The CII has continued work on a responsible AI framework, bringing together firms, consumer representatives and technology experts for a second roundtable to develop guidance that supports safe, ethical and transparent use of AI across the profession.

Motor fraud: We are commissioning two strands of research into ghost broking and fronting to build an evidence base for supporting policy discussions, regulatory engagement and future public awareness activity.

Performer safety: The CII has convened insurers and industry experts to explore ways of reducing workplace injuries in film, television and theatre production, supporting both better safety outcomes and improved risk management. The CII has committed to supporting regulatory reform and an IPC-led safety certification that the market can recognise in risk selection.

What this means

Members can expect new guidance, research and practical tools to help them respond to emerging regulatory expectations and evolving customer needs. This includes support on vulnerability, responsible AI, workplace culture and conduct, while contributing to a stronger and more trusted profession.

Why it matters now

The regulatory and policy landscape is moving quickly. New FCA rules on non-financial misconduct take effect in September, work continues on vulnerability and consumer outcomes, and responsible AI is becoming an increasingly important priority across financial services. By engaging early with these developments, members can help build public trust, improve customer outcomes and stay ahead of future expectations.

Get involved

The impact happens at the table. CII Boards and roundtables bring practitioners, regulators and consumer voices together to test ideas, challenge assumptions and shape guidance that genuinely works.
