Would you like to be a PFS Member Director?

The Personal Finance Society is looking for two Member Directors to serve on its Board.

The Society would ideally like to encourage members who work at medium or large advice firms to apply to ensure that there is knowledge of this sector on the Board.

The Personal Finance Society Board currently comprises of seven Member Nominated Directors, four Institute Directors and a Lay Director.  As the vacancies will arise following the AGM in September, the PFS Nominations Committee is seeking applications from potential candidates who are able to contribute towards the Society's objectives. The PFS is committed to helping its members raise the bar by meeting the regulatory challenges and beyond.

Our mission is:

"To lead the financial advice community towards higher levels of professionalismthrough a wide programme of activities, including advocacy, guidance, publications and related tools, and training and educational events"

The PFS supports diversification and whilst applications from members of all backgrounds will be welcomed, we would particularly like to encourage applications from members who work at medium or large advice firms or are working in the compliance support service sector and from the following under- represented groups:

  • women;
  • ethnic minorities;
  • members with a disability under the Equality Act;
  • minority faiths or beliefs
  • minority sexual orientations

The Role

Your duties as a director would be:

  1. To contribute to the strategic direction of the Society. Implementation of the strategy is the role of the full time staff.
  2. To monitor the progress of the Society against plan and in so doing hold the management to account.
  3. To attend approximately six board meetings per year.
  4. To attend at least a full day's strategic planning session each year.

There are also member facing duties which include:

  1. Attendance at the annual conference and the AGM
  2. Support of the President by representing him/her at regional meetings and other events.

In total you should be dedicated to attending six board meetings a year and attending the annual conference, officers' conference, graduation ceremony, AGM and one regional meeting each year
