This text was conceived by the Insurance Institute fo Sri Lanka primarily as a student text for those sitting the examinations of the Institute. It provides excellent coverage of the origin and development of insurance globally and in Sri Lanka, risks and insurance, the statute case-law governing insurance, its regulation by the INsurance Board, the role of brokers and agents and bancassurance and general principles such as 'utmost good faith', the duty of disclosure, indemnity, subrogation, contribution, proximate cause, assigments, nominations, salvage and surrender value.
