Welcome to the world of PFS “Tech Talks”
In another new initiative we are delighted to bring you the first in a series of “Tech Talks” online from the Personal Finance Society.
PFS "TechTalks" have been developed by the PFS to deliver technical education to members throughout the country regardless of location. We deliver (as we did for this "TechTalk") a face to face presentation to a group of PFS members and film the presentation in order that we can deliver it to as wide an audience as possible online.
We hope you enjoy this "TechTalk". Watch this space for future ones. If there are any subjects in particular which you would like to see the PFS cover through this medium please email clare.parkes@thepfs.org
Inheritance Tax Planning & Trusts
This "TechTalk" is brought to you in association with:
| “A Mutual Thing” – Collective Investments v. Insurance Bonds
The ‘packaged’ IHT trusts market has long been predisposed to insurance bonds alone. However, selection of the tax wrapper can play an instrumental part in determining how investment returns will be taxed. This technical session will examine the use of collectives for IHT trust planning versus the use of insurance bonds. | |
- How are collectives in trusts taxed?
- Who is taxed, how are they taxed?
- How does this differ from trust to trust (e.g. Gift trust, Loan trust etc)
- Bare trusts v. discretionary trusts
- Understanding the tax consequences of the fund/tax wrapper/trust combination
- How does the taxation of collectives differ from insurance bonds?
- The case for and against collective investments
- The case for and against insurance bonds
- Understanding where collectives might offer an advantage
by Paul Kennedy, Business Development Director, Trusts & Tax Planning Solutions, Fidelity Funds Network
The session is an advanced level technical presentation designed for financial advisers who are committed to keeping their knowledge up to date and exploring new and exciting ways of advising clients.
