Welcome to Great Expectations 2012

Welcome to the PFS 2012 National Conference homepage. If you haven’t been before the PFS Conference is an annual event that showcases the UK financial planning profession. It is the largest event of its kind and this year will be looking beyond the introduction of the RDR to try to identify the key themes of the future of financial planning. It promises to be a feast of top-quality CPD, inspiration, ideas and power networking.

Building on excellent 2011 feedback

The feedback from last year’s event was exceptional. We introduced a new format giving delegates unprecedented choice and variety. Sessions were more interactive and the quality of speakers was second to none. The feedback speaks for itself:

  • 96% agreed that the ICC was an excellent/good conference venue
  • 93% thought the new event format was excellent/good
  • 92% found the relevance of topics to be excellent/good
  • 90% rated the event very/quite worthwhile, in terms of value of time away from the office
  • 87% said they were very/fairly likely to recommend that a colleague attends in 2012

An excellent #PFSConf for the last
2 days. If you weren't here you have missed lots of ideas on how
to improve your service to clients.

Event Theme - Great Expectations

The 2012 PFS Annual conference theme, ‘Great Expectations – The Future of Financial Planning’ was inspired by the bicentenary of Charles Dickens birth. The financial planning profession is in expectant mood ahead of the imminent introduction of the RDR and, as a result of the RDR, there is a great expectation that financial planning will become more professional, inspiring greater consumer confidence and trust.

2012 also marks the CII’s centenary year as a Chartered professional body. It is celebrating the granting of this royal Charter by looking to the future to try to determine what the key risks and opportunities might be that face the profession over the coming decades.

For those advisers and financial planning firms that embrace high professional standards the reward will ultimately be a parity of esteem with other established professions such as accountancy and law.
