Your portal to policy and research

The CII’s policy and public affairs function is committed to improving the reputation and standing of the insurance and financial services sector - primarily through the promotion of professionalism but also through involvement in debates on issues as wide ranging as climate change and the skills agenda.

Briefings

The Chartered Insurance Institute is committed to enhancing the reputation of insurance and financial services – in the eyes of opinion formers and the public – as well as ensuring that members are kept up to date on key developments impacting the sector. To support these objectives we produce material for a number of different purposes covering a wide range of subjects including UK and European regulation, industry developments, legislation and regular public affairs updates. Please note that some briefings are available to CII members only – these require login details and are clearly marked. Briefings page.

Papers in Professionalism

We communicate regularly the Government, MPs, regulators and other key bodies so as to influence those holding decision making powers.

We are forward thinking in our approach to the future of insurance and financial services and through thought leadership and our key contacts we continue to shape those issues that will affect our future. Our series of Papers in Professionalism sets out our vision for a modern and progressive profession.

Consultation Responses

We are at the forefront of responding to the challenges created by this industry-wide issue and are working to ensure the conditions in which our members can be seen as fully professional.

We work closely with those who constitute the CII group in order to provide dynamic and insightful comment upon policies developed by the Government, the EU and the regulator. As a professional body it is important that we contribute to policy development discussions – these contributions can be seen on our consultation responses page.

Research & Surveys

Research plays a key role in the CII’s policy development process – whether it be canvassing the views of our members or of a wider audience. We run a number of surveys throughout the year to provide insights on the key issues – the most recent of which can be viewed on our research and surveys page.

thinkpieces

We have an ongoing commitment to promoting new thinking within the financial sector. This is best illustrated by our series of papers entitled thinkpieces. These are short papers contributed by experts on key issues of interest to stakeholders both inside and outside of our sector.

our view on

A professional body involved in influencing policy development and promoting fresh thinking, it is important that people know where we stand on key issues. Our View On is a series of papers that provides a quick overview of our opinions on those matters affecting insurance and financial services.
