A major event like coronavirus can initiate new types of scam activity. Together with the Financial Conduct Authority, we are urging consumers to be vigilant for scams that could appear over the coming weeks and months.

Scammers are sophisticated, opportunistic and will try to get personal details or money from victims in many ways.

To counter this, you can deliver a great customer care message by sharing with your clients a new flyer we have prepared called “How to avoid investment scams”.

The flyer highlights six warning signs which consumers should be particularly vigilant about.

It urges individuals to seek impartial advice from a financial adviser/planner if they have any doubts about a situation and reminds them that “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”.
