2016 - hitting the ground running.   2016 has started just as busy as 2015 finished and the festive holidays seem a distant memory! The future is looking brighter for the profession but predicting the future of regulation, particularly in an ever-changing financial services sector, has more often seen pessimistic predictions with the likelihood of further regulatory impact and cost. However, following a more positive and progressive period of evolution for the advice profession, 2016 could see some overdue reform and evolution of regulation itself.

CII appoints Sian Fisher as CEO »
Sian Fisher ACII has been appointed CEO of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). She succeeds Dr Sandy Scott, who announced his retirement in March last year. Ms Fisher will take up her new post on the 1 February.

Lee Travis to head up Society of Mortgage Professionals »
Lee Travis, who was appointed as the new head of professional development at the Personal Finance Society (PFS) in November, has also been confirmed as head of professional development at the Society of Mortgage Professionals (SMP). Travis will take over from Gary Little who leaves the Society at the end of the year to take up a new post in the mortgage distribution sector, having been head of operations & membership for nearly two years.
